Jade Scognamillo, 15, becomes youngest to cross Lake Ontario

Jade Scognamillo has set the record as the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario in an official time of 19 hours, 59 minutes and 49 seconds.

Scognamillo touched the wall at Marilyn Bell Park in Toronto just before 6 p.m after swimming through choppy water for the final kilometer of the swim.

Spokeswoman Francisca Gambino said she's tired, but on an emotional high.

The 15-year-old swimmer from Caledon started the journey at Niagara-on-the-Lake around 9:33 p.m. Friday, after waiting for spontaneous thunderstorms to pass by.

Scognamillo realized not only her aquatic goal with the swim, but her fundraising one as well, raising $35,000 for the neo-natal unit at Sick Kids hospital.

"Her theory is that everybody has a connection with Sick Kids, you know someone has been a Sick Kids patient," said Gambino. "It's a charity that everybody can connect to personally."

FUTURE SHOW GUESTS

TSN's Michael Landsberg will join us on a future show

Michael Landsberg has been the host of Off The Record (OTR), TSN's highly acclaimed 30-minute daily sports debate show, since the show's debut in September 1997. Always trying to see the world of sports through the fans' eyes, Landsberg asks his guests tough, thought-provoking and controversial questions on the day's hottest sports topics.

One of the best-known personalities in Canadian broadcasting, Landsberg has been with TSN since the network's inception in 1984. He started his broadcasting career as an anchor on SportsCentre (then called SportsDesk), and went on to host more than 5,000 episodes. Thirteen years later, Landsberg left SportsCentre to host OTR.

Landsberg attributes his success on OTR to the preparation he puts into every show and his unique ability to change an interview's direction and think on his feet. He has a style all his own, going into every interview with a no-fear attitude while always respecting his guests.
